The brand name was chosen to honor the enduring spirit of 'Old Ping’, Hazen S. Pingree, mayor of Detroit (1890-1897), who is considered one of the greatest mayors in US history. The nostalgic feel of the design took its inspiration from this incredible time period in Detroit and celebrates this champion of the Detroiters who fought monopolies and corruption.
