Clos du Val came to CF Napa to design the packaging, tasting kit, and gift box for an incredibly unique wine club offering – a set of special wines for an interactive, at-home blind tasting.

While creating the perfect blend for a new vintage, the winemaker sometimes develops a delicious wine that doesn’t quite fit the core Clos du Val portfolio. The blind tasting wines are two of those blends, packaged to disguise their exact features, allowing club members to predict the composition of the wine.
CF Napa designed a series of scrapbook-style labels for the front of the bottles with images and handwritten notes from the winemaker providing clues to the tasting notes of the wines. The labels have ripped, imperfect edges as though they have been torn straight from the winemaker’s notebook. The “scraps” were hand-applied to the bottles with custom-printed masking tape.
The back labels were concealed with a scratch-off that hid the varietal make-up of the wines, keeping the wine a secret until the blind tasting was complete and adding a fun, interactive surprise element to the consumer experience.
CF Napa also created a tasting kit with cards to record tasting notes and a matching 2-bottle gift box for the exclusive wines.
